about

From Teen Daze:

In January of this year, I had the opportunity to open a few shows for Chrome Sparks, and it was a great opportunity to test out a song like Open. I knew I was going to be playing for a room full of people that were wanting to dance, so I tried to create something that could work in that live, dance-oriented setting, but that would also showcase my love of ambient music (the Underwater Mix of Open leans even more heavily on the ambient side of things).

Postcard is an experiment with a new synthesizer that I purchased around the same time. One of the first things I did was begin to create patches, or different saved sounds within the synths memory, and this was the first sound I made. It reminded me of the sounds on Hiroshi Yoshimura's "Music For Nine Postcards" (hence the title); pastoral and soft, but obviously digital.

The cover is a photo that my wife took while we were hiking in Wilsons Promontory National Park, in South-Eastern Australia. It's truly one of the most serene places I've ever visited, and the blues that you see in the sky and water encapsulated the aquatic feeling that it feels like both of these songs possess.
